Overview

Peacock's high-octane adaptation of the iconic PlayStation franchise, set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where an amnesiac delivery driver must transport a mysterious package across lawless terrain. The show's vehicular mayhem demanded extensive destruction simulation — enhancing practical vehicle stunts with CG debris, fire, and explosions while creating fully digital sequences for shots too dangerous to achieve practically. Every explosion, every crumpled fender, every shattered windshield needed to feel visceral and weighty.

Process & Approach

Character & Creature FX

Sweet Tooth — the show's iconic killer clown — demanded VFX augmentation in nearly every appearance. From fire effects interacting with his mask and costume to environmental destruction left in his wake, every shot was designed to amplify the character's menacing presence while staying true to the PlayStation franchise's larger-than-life aesthetic.

On-Set Camera & VFX Supervision

Our VFX supervision team worked closely with the camera department to ensure every action sequence was captured with the technical data needed for post. Lens information, HDRIs, and tracking markers were meticulously logged for every setup — critical for the seamless integration of CG destruction into handheld and Steadicam footage.

Vehicle Destruction & Stunts

The post-apocalyptic vehicular combat at the heart of Twisted Metal required a hybrid approach — practical vehicle stunts augmented with CG debris, fire, and shrapnel. Sweet Tooth's armoured ice cream truck and the show's arsenal of weaponised vehicles were enhanced with digital destruction that matched the weight and chaos of real collisions.

Post-Apocalyptic Environments

The Divided States of America needed to feel like a lived-in wasteland. Our team extended practical sets with CG ruins, overgrown vegetation, and atmospheric haze, while augmenting hero vehicles with digital weapon modifications and battle damage that evolved throughout the season.
